About KVG Physiotherapy

KVG Institute of Physiotherapy, Sullia, was established with the vision of providing quality physiotherapy education and nurturing competent, compassionate, and ethically responsible physiotherapy professionals capable of addressing the diverse healthcare and rehabilitation needs of society. The institute functions under the esteemed Academy of Liberal Education (AOLE), founded by the visionary educationist Late Dr. Kurunji Venkatramana Gowda, whose dedication to education and rural development laid the foundation for a vibrant academic ecosystem in the region.

The establishment and growth of KVG Institute of Physiotherapy have been guided by the vision and initiatives of Dr. Chidananda K. V., who has played a significant role in strengthening professional and healthcare education.

Recognizing the growing need for skilled physiotherapists and comprehensive rehabilitation services, the institute was established to create opportunities for aspiring students and to develop healthcare professionals equipped with the knowledge, clinical skills, and professional values required in modern physiotherapy practice.

The institute commenced its academic journey in 2018 with the Bachelor of Physiotherapy (BPT) programme, with an initial intake of 40 students. From its inception, the institute has focused on providing a strong foundation in physiotherapy education through comprehensive academic instruction, practical training, clinical exposure, and a patient-centred approach to healthcare.

A significant milestone in the institute’s growth was achieved in 2024 with the introduction of the Master of Physiotherapy (MPT) programme in five specialities, marking an important step towards strengthening postgraduate education, advanced clinical training, and specialization in the field of physiotherapy.

Continuing its progressive development and in response to the increasing demand for quality physiotherapy education, the annual intake capacity of the BPT programme was increased from 40 to 60 seats from 2025. This expansion reflects the institute’s commitment to providing greater opportunities for aspiring physiotherapy professionals while maintaining high standards of academic and clinical training.

Over the years, KVG Institute of Physiotherapy has witnessed steady growth in its academic programmes, infrastructure, faculty expertise, clinical training facilities, and learning resources. Supported by the well-established KVG Medical Campus and its multidisciplinary teaching hospitals, students benefit from an integrated learning environment that combines classroom education with extensive hands-on clinical exposure across various areas of healthcare and rehabilitation.

Today, KVG Institute of Physiotherapy stands as a growing centre of excellence in physiotherapy education, committed to nurturing skilled, confident, ethical, and compassionate physiotherapy professionals. Through excellence in education, clinical practice, research, innovation, and community engagement, the institute continues to contribute meaningfully to rehabilitation, healthcare delivery, and the enhancement of the quality of life of individuals and communities.

OUR CORE VALUES

Core Values

Knowledge into Practice

We believe that meaningful physiotherapy education connects sound theoretical knowledge with clinical reasoning and practical experience. We prepare students to apply what they learn confidently and responsibly in real-life healthcare situations.

Person-Centred Rehabilitation

We see every patient as an individual, not merely as a diagnosis. We value empathy, dignity, respect, communication, and active participation in rehabilitation, enabling care that addresses the person’s needs, goals, and quality of life.

Competence for Clinical Practice

We are committed to developing graduates who are clinically competent, confident, and capable of making informed decisions. We emphasize hands-on learning, appropriate assessment, therapeutic skills, and safe and effective patient care.

Evidence, Inquiry & Discovery

We encourage students and faculty to question, investigate, and learn from evidence. Research, critical thinking, and scientific enquiry are integral to advancing physiotherapy practice and lifelong professional learning.

Learning through Collaboration

We believe better learning and better healthcare happen when people work together. We promote meaningful interaction among students, faculty, clinicians, other healthcare professionals, patients, and the community.

Responsibility towards Society

We believe physiotherapy has a role beyond the clinic. Through community rehabilitation, health promotion, preventive care, awareness programmes, and outreach, we encourage our students to contribute to the health and well-being of society.

Integrity in Professional Practice

We expect honesty, ethical conduct, accountability, discipline, and respect in every aspect of academic and professional life. We strive to develop professionals who can be trusted by their patients, colleagues, and community.

Growth with the Profession

We encourage openness to new knowledge, technologies, ideas, and approaches in physiotherapy. We cultivate professionals who continue to learn, adapt, innovate, and contribute to the evolving healthcare landscape.
